DISCOVERY:
 

This is the part when you head out into the field. The main aim of methods in the discovery phase is to completely immerse yourself in-context to probe, observe, and uncover people in their natural authentic/ environments to confirm or negate research assumptions/inquiries. The following are some of the methods I have employed to do so:

SENSE-MAKING:

This is where the insights are born. Sense making also known as synthesis, is the process of integrating data and information from the discovery phase into a distilled articulation/understanding of the problem towards generating ideas for relevant design/ user experience. The following are some tools to consider employing when bridging the gap between data and understanding:

PARTICIPATORY EVALUATION:

This is where the ideas take shape. The focus of this phase often assumed as ideation, is to generate and test potential solutions with target users. Ideas take tangible forms and serve as mediums to explore efficacy, usability and perceptions of target users. Some tools I’ve employed in the past include:
